Hunky guys like this are starting to get noticed more and more. It used to be that only skinny underage guys were worshipped in the gay community but now as we age there is more of a call to portray thick hunky guys like this now. I especially liked this model's arms and his facial expression. Guys with close cropped hair and a thicker build are now getting more and more attention.
The paint on this is also super thick as a way to create more visual and physical presence to the painting. The technique of applying thick layers of paint is called and "impasto" (sort of the Italian for paste.) I try to vary the textures to compliment or amplify the surfaces and planes I'm painting. So the face and arms on this painting were painted more with thick bristle brushes and the strokes are meant to be gestural or calligraphic. The background and the shirt are literally troweled on in areas. It took forever for this painting to dry because the paint is so thick.
This is painted on a stretched canvas with white 1 and half inch stretcher bars so you won't have to frame it if you like the edges the way they look.

Wow. I've admired Kenney's work for a while, and decided to purchase this work as a gift for a friend. Seeing his work in person is totally different from seeing the photos online... the textures and colors are beautiful. Too bad for my friend, I'm keeping this one for myself! I have admired this artist work for quite some time now and always wanted to acquire one of his pieces. I was lucky enough to find this one available and the seller was extremely helpful throughout the whole transaction. Upon receiving this item I was beyond astonished at the care given to how the item was shipped. Talk about professionalism to a T!!! I looked at this piece through strong light and very strong magnification and needless to say, I was totally overwhelmed by just the sheer technique and artistry of his work!
